Repetition

A 27-day-old female Reticulated Giraffe stands beside her mother at Kanazawa Zoological Park in Yokohama, Japan.

This is a example of repetition because there are shapes all over the giraffes. Its all repeated all over there body and wont ever change.

Judges rate Alpine cheese in Oberstdorf, Germany. Jury members at the 5th Alpine Cheese Olympics rated over 700 kinds of Alpine cheese from all over the world.

This is a example of repetition because there is multiple sizes and shapes that are repeating. There might be a different shape in a row but they are always repeating.

A Pakistani balloon vendor waits for Valentine's Day customers on a roadside in Islamabad.

This is a example of repetition because of the shapes and color of the hearts. They are all the same and repeated. The Trees are also repeated in the background.

American Soldier slideshow and captions

2A.
I think the most powerful picture is the one in "signing up" because the person who enlisting in the army and you can see the emotion not only in his eyes but also his parents and friends. It shows the realities of going into the army straight out of high school and to me its pretty powerful.

2B.
"Basic training" is the strongest sequence of photos because it has alot of action and along with emotion. There is a lot happening in the photo's which makes them more interesting to look at and take interest in.

2C.
The pictures worked to tell a story by being when he graduated from high school to enlisting in the army and things to him in the army in training, through Iraq then him coming home to see his family. Like every picture tells a section of the whole story, but these pictures work so well together because after one section, or one picture, the next picture comes and tells another section.

3A.
They are written in present tense.

3B.
The captions enhance the photos because they give a deeper and fuller meaning to photo, to understand what the photo is about. However, they don't tell you what happens after or right before the picture was taken.

4 *1
In chapter one Jennifer Ian girlfriend on the day before he has to leave they went to the carnival where they were alone on the fares wheel, where they had a moment and had a passionate kiss.

*2.
In chapter 2, Ian closes his eyes while he is getting his hair shaved his third day in the army. Ian has had his head shaved many times before so this is no big deal for him.

*3
In chapter 3, Ian hold a gun out of one of a hundred times before. Many things going through his mind.

5A.
These videos enhance the photographs because they basically give a detailed description about the photographs and you can hear the emotion in the voices and the background music just enhances the sadness around them.
5B.
Videos are sometimes better than photographs because they use the elements of sound along with sight to tell a story, whereas pictures just use sight.

5C.
Photos are better than videos because photographs you can see the emotion and analyze whats going on in your head but in videos not only can you see it but you can also hear it.

Marlboro Marine

A. What skills besides photography did Luis Sinco utilize to produce this slide show?

Luis Sinco used his photograph to express James Blake Miller emotions and thoughts, about his story and struggles. Luis used editing and text to show when something big happened in Blake's life. The music Luis put on the slide show was depressing. In my eyes it was how James felt.

B. What was the effect (added power or meaning) of the multimedia effects of the slide show?

The video was very sad and many people in Iraq could relate. People who were in the war or coming back from it, are never the same. Every thing they went through in the Iraq will be there in there minds until the day they die. The pictures form the war added a lot of power to this slide show because it showed how bad the conditions could be toward anything it added a lot of effect and emotion. The meaning behind the photos is telling the story of a great man that fought for our country, protecting his love ones, and my love ones.

A. What is the most powerful image from the slideshow? Why?

The most powerful image from the slideshow was the where his wife was sitting on the bed while he was looking out the window, when Blake was saying he had brought his own problems upon him and Jessica didnt deserve to have all of his problems. He seemed like he still loved her but there was so many problems going on in his life that he doesnt want to her involve.

B. What sequence of photographs is the most powerful? Why?

I think the most powerful sequence was when he was riding his bike and deciding whether to ride his bike into a mountain side or ride it off the top of one. When he closed his eyes the slide show went black showing that he was closing his eyes.

C. How does the audio enhance the photographs?

Audio enhances a photo in such a way that it give you a deeper feel to the photo and it gives you an opportunity to make a connection with the photo based on your experience and how you feel.

D. How do the images work together to tell a story?

The images work together by telling Blacks life story after he felt when he was coming home from iraq. Each photo has a meaning behind it while i was watching the video all i could think to myself was i want to know more about Blake and more about each video.

Contests Preview, Show and Tell 2

This photo is very sad. An older lady that lost her loved one
maybe from the war or some tragic death. It looks like she cared
very much about this person.

This video right here is a play about grease. These people are death and
only can do sign language. Its a great play and it inspired
me alot cause I love watching the movie grease and seeing
them play with how they communicate with people is interesting.

Great Black and White Photographers part 3

What caught my eye about this photo was that it reminded me of a
tunnel and you see the light at the end of it.
This was very interesting to me because it somehow reminded me of
Christmas with all the snow.
I see lights in the background. Trees that follow a road in a town or city. A snowy dark day.
I smell cold fresh air and passably someone cooking something at there home or store. I also smell the tall snowy trees.
I hear the cold winter wind. People talking in the city or town, and cars driving place to place.
I taste the icy snow on the tip of my tongue. The taste of the stores cooking.
I feel calm and scared at the same time in this photo. Its dark but calm. The snow and lights make me feel calm while the darkness makes me a little scared.

What first caught my eye about this photo was the mist of the icy winter day. That the mist surrounded the people, horses, and the vehicle.
I see a vehicle that's being pushed with horses. A man that's maybe checking the hourses. A mist that is surrounding thim cause of there breathing.
I smell the fresh air. I also smell horses that mightive haven't tooken a bath in months.
I hear horses walking on the mudy icy road. People talking and the vehicle moving. I would also hear the wind passing through.
I taste the icy snow. The mud on the ground thats been stepped on and road on.
I feel very cold in this picture. Cause of the snow and the mist that surrounds the people and animals.
